Het was mijn eerste bezoek aan Marokko, wat zonder meer voor herhaling vatbaar is. Aan de Medersa Ben Youssef van Marrakesh heb ik soort minicyclus gewijd (het derde tot en met zesde gedicht), ge\u00efnspireerd door de vele verbanden tussen de historische, sacrale architectuur daar en die in onze contreien. Hoewel dit thema me sowieso aan het hart gaat, had en heeft mijn belangstelling hiervoor primair te maken met het onderzoek naar de <a title=\"Kathedraal de nieuwe Bavo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.vanhellenberghubar.org\/?page_id=16\">nieuwe Bavo<\/a> van Joseph Cuypers in Haarlem (1895-1930). In dit gebouw werden voor het eerst &#8211; en dat nog wel in een kathedraal &#8211; Arabische motieven verwerkt, iets waar de architect eer mee inlegde. Gemene deler blijkt de Moorse architectuur in Spanje te zijn. Je leest er meer over in het naschrift bij de gedichten.<\/p>\n<p>Voor wie een keer op een hele plezierige manier in Marrakesh wil verblijven, kunnen wij <em>Les trois Pilliers<\/em> van harte aanraden.<a href=\"#heimerick\">*<\/a> Het is een gastenverblijf in een &#8216;compound&#8217;, of &#8211; zoals men daar zegt &#8211; in een <em>jardin<\/em>. Het leuke ervan is dat je midden tussen de plaatselijke bevolking zit en niet in een Westeuropese kolonie die overal elders in een warm land had kunnen liggen.<\/p>\n<p>Voor wie van architectuur houdt is het een feest: bij de woonwijk is namelijk qua vormgeving ingespeeld op de <em>genius loci<\/em>, waardoor je geen anonieme blokken hebt, maar straten met speelse inkijkjes onder een reeks van bogen die &#8211;
